Another Anchorage after Howard Heflin Lock (#76)

We were making good time after leaving Columbus. We had another beautiful day on the water.

Barge is moving woodchips to one of the pulp factories.

We had a planned anchorage at Lower Cooks Bend, but decided to complete 4 locks and get past the lack lock of the day Howard Heflin lock.

Laura doesn't love anchorages because of her clausterphobia. The anchorage was pretty, quiet, calm, and held well. We were at the anchorage with 7 other looper boats.

Stay: 1 night

Tombigbee Oxbow Howard Heflin Lock overflow anchorage

Pros: Pretty, quiet

Cons: One section is hazardous and only shows up on Navionics charts, not Aquamaps
