Cozy Cabins and Character at Hales Bar (#68)

We left at first light to enjoy the beautiful calm of the morning.

There were no other boats on the water when we left.

We remarked how grateful we were that we took this side trip to see these amazing sights.

We were joined in the lock by Therapy and Emily B who went off to anchor as we headed off to Hales Bar Marina.

We were able to lock a bit more successfully by attaching to the lower ballard on this lock. Laura did keep the engine on and engaged but not as much.

Fellow loopers said we should not go to Hales Bar because of the unmarked entrance.

People rend out these 2 bedroom cabins on the water.

We saw this persons slide contraptions on their house. You can slide off the porch and into this shipping container.

We have chickens on the side of the road.

We could not take pictures of all the excitement Ted could see from the front porch of this local establishment. Ted witnessed local sheriffs coming and goings as we tried to figure out what was going on in this corner market which seemed to be the center of town.

We were a day late for the Halloween Haunted house celebrations, but the deocrations were there to see.

When we left at first light we saw the three goat resting in the parking lot.

Stay: 1 night

Pros: Laundry, clean restrooms, character

Cons: need local knowledge for safe entry, questionable boats docked, hard entry, no dockhands, hard to walk to good restaurants, no courtesy car, nearby winery closed on Monday

Rating: 3 stars
