Dirty Dozen Locks to Columbus Marina (#75)

We thought we were leaving at first light with only Therapy as we made it through the dirty dozen locks of the Tennessee Tombigbee waterway. But as we were taking off, Motor Vessel Shamrock whizzed ahead of us and we found our friends on Next Wave were already in the lock. We continued to lock with them for the rest of the day.

The morning locking was at first light.

As the sun rises, there is always a bit of fog on the water.

And when it clears it is beatifully clear.

We got fuel once we arrived. The entrance had narrow bouys to get into the fuel dock and marina. After fueling, we went to go to our slip. Originally we thought we were on the long transient dock, and then they said we were on the second slip over from the end. As Laura started to back into the slip, the wind kicked up and she missed the approach. She has been docking bow in for a while, so she wanted to practice backing in again. We moved a slip over, and without the wind gust and a better approach she was able to dock.

There was a park nearby that was next to the lock we would be going through the next day.
