Gilded Age Troy plus final Erie Prep (#14)

Updated: Jun 15, 2024

We took a quick trip (7.5 miles) from Albany to Troy for a one night prep so we could see another town while we prepared for our trip down the Erie Canal. We had our first night on a lock wall with electricity. We left early and had to slow down so the dockmaster would be there in time. We had a full day in Troy because of our early arrival. We took the opportunity to see the town where Gilded Age is filmed, and was the center of the Gilded Age.

On our walk through town we saw buildings that are now part of the RPT

These buildings were freshly painted on one side of the street and likely used for the filming of The Guilded Age.

Ted worked on setting up our Fenders for the next days locking.

Reviews:

Troy Town Marina

Pros: Great location into town, easy electricity, great restaurant nearby, great places to walk

Cons: Trailer restroom not maintained, no other amenities

We loved the location, the marina was nice, but the bathrooms were definitely the worst of the trip. It's much harder to assign ratings for marinas than I thought!
