Traveling on No Go Day to Wrightsville (#115)

We wanted to take advantage of a good weather day to get to Beaufort, NC so we took this short trip (less than 4 hours) to Wrightsville on a not-so great weather day. Originally, the wind was supposed to be 10-15 knots, but by the time we left the forecast said a steady 15 knots.

Laura remembered after we were on the water a bit that dramamine would be helpful. We had steady 15+ knot winds and we generally have the rule we don't travel above 10 knots. But, those rules would keep us from going anywhere at this time of year on this section of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. (AICW)

This was the first time on the loop where we werea able to get fuel in our slip. Since docking was tough in the wind - we were very grateful we didn't have to move!

We arrived early for a quick (good!) lunch at Poe's Tavern, and then bought a pizza to go at Mellow Mushroom so we could have food for our long day to Beaufort, NC.

Stay: 1 Night

Pros: Excellent bathrooms, comfy captains lounge, easy docking, helpful staff, easy to coordinate opening with the bridge (you can get an opening as needed before 6:30am)

Cons: Windy, Need to watch winds for docking

Rating: 5 stars (for the amenities!)
